Retro Sofas and Funky Chairs – A Real London Story Vintage sofas just feel more real than anything new. Growing up, there was a sofa in our house that had seen it all. It was worn, armchair funky patched, and squeaky, but it had heart. During the heyday of Soho, a sofa wasn’t just a sofa. You’d hand down sofas from parents to kids. It’s in the creak when you shift. I found a retro accent chair in a Dalston car boot. Most people would have walked on, but as soon as I sat down it felt right. That chair still sits in my flat.

Furniture in London shifts with the postcode. Hampstead stays calm, with buttoned wingbacks. Brixton thrives on colour, with bold fabrics. Every corner tells a different story. Showroom sofas don’t talk back. Accent chairs from another era become part of your life. They carry scratches like tattoos. At the end of the day, a battered sofa tells more truth than any showroom. A chair should hold your nights. When you walk past a glossy showroom, wander a street full of second-hand shops.

Save a battered seat, couch armchair and make it part of your story.
